Mastercard OFF CAMERA Festival
The Mastercard OFF CAMERA International Independent Film Festival is one of the largest events of its kind in this part of Europe. Record-breaking awards and the promotion of independent cinema make the event a standout among festivals worldwide.
During the Krakow May Film Festival, audiences from around the world focus on independent cinema, bold in both content and form, and focused on compelling, fast-paced stories. The festival's highlight is the Main Competition, "Making Way," in which ten first or second-place films from around the world compete for the Krakow Film Award – $100,000, awarded by an international jury. The event attracts the hottest names in film and television. It also features SerialCon and a dedicated Off Camera Pro Industry event zone. Organizers also utilize technological advancements such as augmented reality.
A key element of the program is the Polish Feature Film Competition, in which the best Polish productions of the current season compete for the Kulczyk Foundation Award of PLN 300,000. Each year, Krakow audiences can also watch films grouped into special thematic sections, addressing challenging, current cultural and social issues; productions from specific geographic regions; and retrospectives and screenings of films from the current festival's guest films.
