Zakopane public transport tickets have been available in the Skycash app since August 1, 2019. Passengers on buses operated by TESKO—Tatrzańska Komunalna Grupa Kapitałowa—can purchase all types of tickets valid in the city through the app: single, time-limited, seasonal, and family. Mobile purchases eliminate the need to search for a ticket machine or queue at a ticket office, which is particularly important in a city where the number of tourists often outweighs the number of residents.
Why a mobile ticket works in Zakopane
Zakopane is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Poland, and seasonal traffic and limited space in the city center make navigating the city a challenge for both residents and visitors. The Skycash app allows you to buy a ticket without planning your shopping route in advance—all you need is an Android or iOS smartphone and internet access at the time of purchase. A passenger who has just disembarked from the train at Zakopane station can buy a ticket and board the next bus in seconds, without searching for a ticket machine or paying the exact fare to the driver (the driver on TESKO buses only sells tickets for the exact fare).
Mobile ticket prices are identical to those found in ticket machines, bus vending machines, and stationary sales points. Skycash does not charge passengers an additional commission—the cost of the ride is the same as for traditional purchases.

TESKO bus line network
Zakopane's public transport network has expanded significantly since the launch of Skycash. Since August 21, 2024, six daily bus lines have been operating, including modern, fully electric Solaris Urbino 12 buses introduced in September 2023. Line 11 connects Cyrhla with Krzeptówki, passing through Chłabówka and Jaszczurówka. Line 14 connects the train station area with Kuźnice, the starting point for many Tatra Mountain hikes. The remaining lines (18, 19, 21, and 23) complement the network and cover areas previously served only by private buses.
The frequency of services is adapted to the specificity of the mountain town - most lines run approximately once an hour, and a detailed timetable can be found at official website of the city of Zakopane.
Reliefs and exemptions from fees
Reduced fares (50% of the basic fare) are available to students, pupils, and other groups eligible under separate regulations. Zakopane residents with a Zakopane Resident Card travel free on all TESKO lines—this privilege was maintained even after the fare increase in April 2025. It's worth remembering that the fare for traveling without a valid ticket is PLN 300, so purchasing a ticket through the Skycash app before boarding the bus is the easiest way to avoid the risk of a fine.
Skycash is not only for Zakopane
The Skycash app supports public and municipal transport tickets in nearly 70 cities in Poland, as well as parking payments in over 300 locations. Skycash is Poland's largest virtual mobile wallet, currently used by over 3 million users. In addition to public transport tickets, the app also offers train tickets (including PKP Intercity, PolRegio, and Koleje Dolnośląskie), parking fees in Paid Parking Zones, e-vignettes for highways, and other mobile services. More information about public transport tickets on your phone can be found on the Skycash blog.
