SkyCash, Poland's largest mobile payment and services platform with nearly 700 registered users, has launched PKP Intercity ticket sales. Currently, all Android and Windows Phone smartphone owners can conveniently and quickly purchase tickets for all domestic connections served by EIP (Pendolino), EIC, IC, and TLK trains. Passengers can purchase tickets up to 30 days in advance. The launch concludes over a month of app testing by a select group of users.
"The app focuses on speed and simplicity, allowing you to purchase tickets extremely conveniently on your smartphone, anytime, anywhere. The ticket purchase itself takes just a few seconds," said Tomasz Krajewski, CEO of SkyCash. "The smooth completion of the tests allowed us to launch the solution before the holiday season, when PKP Intercity experiences increased passenger traffic," adds Krajewski.
PKP Intercity tickets are available from the app's main screen. In the center, there's an icon with the carrier's logo, which, when touched, launches the connection search engine. After specifying the departure date and departure and arrival stations, simply define parameters such as the number of tickets, discount type, or carriage class. The final step is to select the payment method (SkyCash account or payment card) and confirm the transaction. The ticket is automatically saved in the "Control" tab and can be presented to the conductor, even without internet access. Passengers can also easily cancel their purchased ticket. The funds will then be refunded to the SkyCash account or the linked payment card used for the purchase. Business travelers can generate VAT invoices, which are sent to the email address they provide.
The free app is available on Google Play and the Windows Phone Store. Current SkyCash users can purchase PKP Intercity train tickets after updating the app.
