World Car Free Day 2023 and European Mobility Week 2023
International Car Free Day is celebrated every year
September 22.
It is the culmination of European Mobility Week, also known as European Sustainable Transport Week.
On this occasion, free public transport rides are organized in many places.
In which cities will bus and tram fares be abolished?
As every year in Warsaw, on the occasion of Car Free Day, travelling by public transport will be free. What's more, we will not pay for the journey on SKM trains, and the gates in the metro will remain open. It will also be possible to travel free of charge on Koleje Mazowieckie and Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa trains.
In Poznań, to travel for free, you will need to have your car registration certificate with you. One document entitles one person to travel for free in the city.
In Łódź, on the other hand, to use free public transport, all you need to do is take your vehicle's registration certificate with you. As many people as the vehicle's registered owner can travel free of charge on public transport with the owner of the car.
In public transport in Gdańsk, holders of an active Gdańsk Resident Card will be entitled to free travel on all lines. You should also have an ID with a photo with you when travelling.
In Gdynia and Wejherowo, owners of passenger cars will be entitled to free public transport, based on a valid registration certificate. The same requirement will also apply to PKP Fast City Rail trains in the Tri-City and Polregio (within the Pomeranian Voivodeship). The same rules will apply to public transport in Częstochowa.
