The Paid Parking Zone in Gdynia operates in two areas: the Downtown Paid Parking Zone (BLUE), which covers Śródmieście and Kamienna Góra, and the Paid Parking Zone (YELLOW), which covers St. Maksymilian Hill, Plotki Leśne, parts of Grabówka, and Orłowo. As of January 7, 2026, a reformed zone model is in effect, with shorter operating hours in the yellow area, a smaller area in Plotki Leśne, and a reduced minimum fee. Drivers parking in Gdynia can pay cashless using the SkyCash mobiParking app, which operates in both zones in start-stop mode—without having to declare parking time in advance and without the risk of paying for unused minutes.
Two paid parking zones in Gdynia
The SPP reform of March 29, 2022, replaced the previous four zones (Śródmieście, A, B, and C) with two uniform areas. The division into orange, yellow, and green zones ceased to exist—today, outside Śródmieście, there is a single, shared Paid Parking Zone, marked yellow on the ZDiZ map.
Downtown Zone (BLUE) covers Śródmieście and Kamienna Góra. Fees are collected daily, including Saturdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, fees end at 14:00 p.m., and the following days are free: January 1 and 6, Easter Sunday and Monday, and December 25 and 26. Fees apply on Sundays other than Sundays—a unique feature of Gdynia that is not found in most Polish cities.
Paid Parking Zone (YELLOW) includes St. Maximilian's Hill, Forest Plots (after reducing the area in January 2026), part of Grabówka and Orłowo. Fees apply on weekdays from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. 8:00 AM – 18:00 PM — this is a two-hour reduction compared to the previous model (until 20:00 p.m.), introduced on January 7, 2026, following analyses by the Public Transport Authority (ZDiZ) showing a significant drop in demand for spaces after 18:00 p.m. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, which fall on weekdays, fees are also collected only until 14:00 p.m.

SPP Gdynia price list - how much does an hour of parking cost?
Rates in both zones are progressive, increasing with each hour of parking, and returning to the initial price after the fourth hour. The system is intended to discourage long-term parking and encourage vehicle rotation.

The minimum parking fee is 1 PLN — this is an important change from January 2026, when the minimum was reduced from PLN 2. In the City Center Zone, PLN 1 covers approximately 11 minutes of parking, and in the Paid Parking Zone — approximately 15 minutes.
SkyCash mobiParking mobile payment - why start-stop saves money
Parking meters require payment in advance for the declared time, and any unused minutes are forfeited. The SkyCash mobiParking app solves this problem—the driver begins parking after parking and ends before departing, and the system only charges for the time actually used. Importantly, In Gdynia, mobile payment is only available in start-stop mode — there is no option to declare a specific amount or time in the app in advance, as in some other cities.
SkyCash mobiParking is one of four mobile payment operators authorized by the Gdynia Road and Public Transport Authority (ZDiZ)—the others are moBILET, Flowbird, and mPay. All offer identical rates, so drivers pay no additional commission. Important: When you start parking, you need to enter the vehicle registration number in the app — the ZDiZ e-control system compares it with the database of active fees.
Additional benefits of purchasing parking with SkyCash include a single-point transaction history, the ability to pay for multiple vehicles from a single account, and integration with other app services—public transport and train tickets, and highway tolls. Parking can also be paid for traditionally at a parking meter—using coins, a payment card, or BLIK.
Ticket for missing a ticket and inspection
The additional fee for not paying for parking at the Gdynia Public Transport Stop is: 200 PLN and is lower than in most Polish cities (Warsaw, Zakopane - PLN 300). ZDiZ provides information on the website notify.zdiz.gdynia.pl A system where drivers can check whether an additional fee has been issued, view inspection photos (location, date, time), and immediately pay the fine online. This is a more convenient solution than waiting for a paper notice—especially for tourists who would only learn of a potential fine after returning home.
Who rides for free
The following persons are exempt from parking fees in both zones:
- People with disabilities holders of a parking card, parking vehicles marked with this card in spaces designated with the P-24 sign or the T-29 plate (so-called blue envelope).
- Owners of electric vehicles — the vehicle must be registered in advance with ZDiZ via the online form.
Motorcyclists pay the same rates as car drivers — Gdynia does not have a preferential tariff for two-wheelers, unlike some other cities.
Subscriptions for residents
Residents of both zones can purchase an "M" type subscription – in the City Center Zone, it costs PLN 30 per month for 1-5 months or PLN 25 per month for 6-12 months. In the Paid Parking Zone (yellow), the rates are lower: PLN 20 per month (1-5 months) or PLN 15 per month (6-12 months). Second and subsequent subscriptions for the same apartment cost many times more – this is a mechanism to discourage the accumulation of more than one car per address. People with disabilities can purchase a type "N" subscription (PLN 30/month or PLN 25/month for an annual purchase), and Gdynia residents settling their PIT tax in the city have access to a Sunday ID, which allows them to park free of charge on Sundays in the City Centre Zone.
What has changed since January 7, 2026
The SPP reform introduced on January 7, 2026 includes five main changes:
- Shortening of hours in the Paid Parking Zone (yellow) from 8:00–20:00 to 8:00–18:00 on weekdays.
- Reduction of the minimum fee from PLN 2 to PLN 1 in both zones.
- Reducing the area of the zone in the Forest Plots and part of Grabówka — the zone excludes, among others, the following streets: Szczecińska, Tatrzańska, Podlaska, Karpacka, Urszulanek, Zakopiańska, Olsztyńska, Mazurska, Toruńska, Kwidzyńska, Lęborska, Kujawska, Królewiecka, Malborska, Fromborska, Sztumska, Elbląska and Kołobrzeska, as well as parts of Wolności, Słupecka, Pomorska, Nowogrodzka, Witomińska, Bydgoska and Kielecka.
- Fine 200 PLN instead of the previous higher rates.
- Free Sundays for Gdynia residents — provided that the PIT tax is settled in the city.
The reform was the result of consultations between the KORMiL coalition and Gdynia Dialogue in the City Council. The resolution passed in June 2025 and came into effect after 180 days. The City Council announced that this is only the first stage of the changes; considerations are underway, including preferential hourly rates for Gdynia residents and the reinstatement of parking spaces at the Southern Pier.
